I have so much saved up and so much to say, but the biggest news is the news that I'll be back on the Camino come July 25th, 2009!!!!!! Yup, I'm dragging my son Matt and we'll walk the last 125 miles or so along the last part of the Camino de Santiago!!! my home away from home from October through November, 2007. I currently (and happily, I might add) am employed and don't have the luxury of taking 6 weeks or 18 months for a sabbatical. Most of you knew that, I know.
So, naturally, we'll do what we can and fit as much in as we can along the way.
First stop? Dublin, 7/24th for U2 at Croke Park!!!!
then, no rest, no sleep, right to the plane for flight to Madrid, train to LEON, Spain, and with backpacks in tow Matt and I will engage the Camino de Santiago together. We walked 8/9 miles today for a Father's Day training trip. Quiet, wet, humid, and I realize I have a lot of walking to do in order to be ready to keep up with Matt (16yrs old and in great shape).
7/26-8/2---walk the camino, eat octopus, introduce matt to orujo!!, and give thanks for the opportunity of a lifetime round two.
lastly, 8/2/09, SEE BRUCE---in SANTIAGO, SPAIN
so, matt will have plenty to tell on his "what i did on my summer vacation", and so will I.
I've been keeping short snippet notes on things i've wanted to write about, but the flow of work and the flow of LIFE have just been too great to get into the flow of Camino writing like I was in late 2007.
BUT, you never know, walking 15-20 miles a day free's a mind up quite a bit, so we'll see what i can muster up in terms of cohesive lines about what has gone on these last 16 months and what I think about what has gone on.
I'M BACK, ALMOST
PEACE
TOMMYT
